The Mass will be
followed by a political rally and commemorative program
during which a number of public officials representing
local, county, state and federal governments will address
the audience, said an announcement issued Friday by the
organizing committee.
After the political rally, a requiem service will take place
at the monument under the direction of the clerical leaders
of the three Armenian Christian denominations.
During both the Mass and the political rally, the public may
place flowers at the monument, the organizers said.
Additional information about this year's Armenian Genocide
commemoration will be provided in the coming days.
The committee appealed to the public to attend the event in
large numbers.
“It is of the utmost importance that California's Armenian
community clearly articulates its just demands upon the
international community of nations, all the while increasing
pressure upon Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide,”
said the announcement.
